October 19th - Mālama ʻĀina Day

Join us in caring for Kiholo! This workday will focus on the south end of the bay, starting at the campgrounds and working our way from Luahinewai to Keanalele, with a special talk story session after lunch about the future Hale Hoa ʻĀina at Kiholo bay!

SCHEDULE

9am: Meet at the former Loretta Lynn house.

9:30am: Safety briefing & break up into groups to work

Group 1: Prepare new Picnic Tables

Group 2: Pick up trash (South) - Waiaelepi to Luahinewai

Group 3: Pick up trash (North) - Campgrounds to Keanalele

Group 4: Rake Kiawe beans around campgrounds/parking area

12pm: Potluck Lunch

12:30pm: Talk Story - The future of the Hale Hoa ʻĀina (former Loretta Lynn house)

1pm: Pau

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We will provide trash bags, tools and other materials, but please bring the following:

  • Covered shoes, gloves, hat and sunscreen are strongly recommended

  • Clothing that can get dirty and good for hot/dry conditions

  • Water Bottle (Water jugs will be available for refills)

  • Beach Chairs -for lunch & talk story

  • Swimsuit/Towel

If you’re staying for lunch, please bring a dish to share.
