Chauncey Kalāokalanikamālamalamaokekuahiwiamekekai Palenapa Pacheco Lindsey-Asing hails from the cool uplands of Waimea, Hawai‘i.  The eldest of four sons, Kalā was born to Justin Asing of Papakōlea, Oahu and Almyra (Lindsey) Asing of Waimea, Hawai`i.  A descendant of the Lindsey family, Kalā was raised "on the ranch" where core values such as kuleana, dedication and hard work were instilled at a very young age.   Values that have been passed down from his kupuna who spent lifetimes on the range as paniolo for the famous Parker Ranch.  Kalā is a husband to wife Kayla and father to Kahalekulu (9), Kaluhea(8) and Leimāmane(2) and continues to instill these familial core values in the way he raises his family.

A proud graduate of Honoka`a High School (co 98) Kalā later studied Hawaiian Perspectives of Natural Resource Management at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa.  He is a student of hula, Hawaiian culture, the environment and his profession.  Kalā greatly values ka`ao, mo`olelo, inoa, genealogical connection to place and embraces the unspoken kuleana to mālama `āina.

As the Project Coordinator of the Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project (RCUH/PCSU/DOFAW), he looks to reconnect communities with the history that Mauna Kea and its natural and spiritual inhabitants possess.  Guided by history, his kupuna and mo`olelo, Kalā relies on his collected experiences and education to make management decisions that will positively affect the natural resources in his care. Kalā attributes his professional accomplishments to years of volunteer work on the inspirational island of Kaho`olawe.  Experiencing the amazing restoration happening in such a storied place continues to inspire Kalā that no challenge is too great.

Though his experience is heavily terrestrial, Kalā is excited for the opportunity to bring Pono (balance) to his ‘ohana as he serves the community of Kiholo as a member of Hui Aloha Kiholo.
